LSA Resolution

In recognition of the fact that any resource on an endangered language is likely to be irreplaceable and in recognition that digital resources are as vulnerable to deterioration as non-digital resources, DELAMAN recommends that resources on endangered languages and cultures be deposited in an appropriate preservation archive; that is, an institution with a commitment to permanence.”

The LSA further recommends that digital resources conform to best practices as described by the E-MELD School of Best Practices and that linguists seeking an appropriate preservation archive for their materials consult the list of archives participating in DELAMAN as given on the DELAMAN web site.

This resolution is currently under consideration by the Linguistic Society of America Executive Committee.
